BioEnterprise, Inc., Cleveland Ohio

LifeMedix has been a client company of BioEnterprise since 2009. We have utilized their research resources, entrepreneurs in residence, and many other valuable resources.  BioEnterprise is a business formation, recruitment, and acceleration initiative designed to grow health care companies and commercialize bioscience technologies. Based in Cleveland, BioEnterprise’s founders and partners are Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University, Summa Health System and the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron. Additional technology partners include the NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland State University, NorTech, and BioOhio. The initiative comprises the collective activities of BioEnterprise and its partners’ commercialization offices: Case Office of Technology Transfer, Cleveland Clinic Innovations, University Hospitals Case Medical Center-Center for Clinical Research and BioInnovation Institute in Akron.

Companies include emerging medical device, biotechnology, and health care services firms. Each year, the BioEnterprise groups choose a select number of companies on which to focus. The resources and networks of the BioEnterprise partners are directed to help those companies achieve greater levels of business success.

BioEnterprise provides companies: Experienced bioscience management guidance; Privileged relationships with world-class research and clinical institutions; Access to bioscience venture capital and private equity firms as well as knowledge of grant funding opportunities; Business development and alliance support for strategic partnerships; Network of regional business capabilities including technical services, equipment, professional service providers, and flexible development space.

Since July 2002, the BioEnterprise Initiative has achieved the following results: More than 150 companies created, recruited, and accelerated; More than $1.3 billion in new funding attracted by these companies; Over $210 million in revenues collected by technology offices; Over 520 technology transfer deals concluded with industry partners; The Initiative has evaluated over 1,600 company opportunities and 3,400 invention disclosures.

Great Lakes Innovation Development Enterprise (GLIDE), Lorain Ohio

LifeMedix received grant funding from GLIDE in the form of  seed funding. The Great Lakes Innovation and Development Enterprise (GLIDE) helps Northeast Ohio entrepreneurs wrap sound business practices around great business ideas. GLIDE’s experienced Entrepreneurs-in-Residence provide professional business assistance to companies at every stage of development and connect entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Northeast Ohio’s seed funding landscape has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. There are many types of funding available to entrepreneurs, but finding the right seed funding for your business can be difficult. GLIDE can help you decide what funding source is best for you and then navigate you through the application process. GLIDE administers the Innovation Fund, Northeast Ohio’s pre-seed fund founded by the Lorain County Community College Foundation that supports technology-based entrepreneurial companies. It awards early-stage capital to business in Northeast Ohio, filling the gap between friends and family funding and angel or venture capital funding.

JumpStart, Inc., Cleveland Ohio

LifeMedix was invited to participate in JumpStart’s Mentoring Program in 2012. We are being actively mentored by a world-class mentor team. The program was created in partnership with MIT’s world-class Venture Mentoring Service. Based on innovative, entrepreneur-focused lessons developed at MIT, the program is specifically tailored for a fast-paced, fiercely competitive, global startup environment. Companies entering the program receive anywhere from one to four mentors, depending on their needs. This team approach provides critical experience for companies who expect to form and effectively manage boards of directors in the future.

LifeMedix, LLC formally engaged Valtronic in the Spring of 2012 to develop the device prototype in conjunction with MAGNET. Valtronic is a full-service provider of engineering, design & development and manufacturing services for the medical device and select industrial markets. Headquartered in Switzerland with facilities on four continents, their solutions range from micro-electronics and micro-mechanics to the integration of complex systems. Valtronic is building the alpha prototype in conjunction with MAGNET engineering group. The Valtronic Quality Policy is to provide services that meet or exceed industry and regulatory requirements. The Valtronic Quality Management System (“QMS”) applies to activities that affect quality and is implemented throughout Valtronic to ensure that all requirements for our services are met. All Valtronic services are controlled in accordance with the commitments of the QMS. All Valtronic sites are ISO 9001 and 13485 certified and their production facilities are FDA inspected.
